Classic Muscle Car and Truck Mechanical Service in Maine

We are the mechanical half of your restoration. Portland Performance handles engines, transmissions, drivelines, wiring, suspension, EFI conversions and tuning on classic cars and trucks, done right the first time by people who build and calibrate engines for a living.

Owners bring us cars from all over New England, including Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut and Rhode Island, often to sort out mechanical work another shop left behind.

Winter is the best time to book your classic

Your car is parked for the season anyway, so let it spend that time with us instead. It stays indoors and secure the entire time it is here, and it comes back ready to drive in the spring.

  • Small jobs: tune ups, carburetor or EFI tuning, ignition, brakes, fluid service and the list of nagging issues from last season
  • Large projects: engine and transmission work, EFI conversions, rewiring, suspension and driveline upgrades

Winter storage discount for classics: Classic cars and classic trucks stored with us while we work on them this winter earn discounted heated storage. The more work we do, the less you pay, and major builds store free. See winter storage or ask us for details with your estimate.

Call early to get your car on the winter schedule.

Why classic owners trust us

Built by a calibrator

Our owner is a professional motorsports engine calibrator and Holley expert. The same approach goes into every classic: find the real cause, then get the combination running right.

Safe indoor space

Your car stays indoors and secure the whole time it is with us, from a weekend job to a winter long project. That is rare for a mechanical shop.

We stay in our lane

We handle the mechanical, electrical and integration side, from wiring to EFI and engine calibration, so the car is actually fun to own and drive and as reliable as it can be. Bring us your car from your paint and body shop, or before it goes there, so everything under the skin matches the quality of the finish.

Holley and FiTech EFI specialists

We are a Holley dealer and work with Holley and FiTech systems every day, from installs and wiring to custom calibration, so your EFI conversion runs right instead of living on a base map.

Classic service FAQ

Do you do paint, bodywork or frame off restorations?

No. We focus on the mechanical side: engine, transmission, driveline, electrical, suspension, EFI and tuning. We are happy to work alongside your paint and body shop.

Which EFI systems do you install and tune?

We are a Holley dealer and work with Holley and FiTech systems, including custom calibration.

Do you tune modern street cars?

Custom calibration and dyno tuning are only offered for classics and competition vehicles. See Tuning and Dyno.

I am out of state. Is it worth the trip?

Many of our classic customers come from elsewhere in New England. Call us to talk through your car before you make the drive.
